Fight The Fats : EPISODE 1 - The Beginning

Ok, I was born fat. Since I was still a baby, I was already really heavy…that’s according to my mom. As a small boy, I was really round. I’ve never walked to school, I rolled.

I went to Klang High for my secondary education. Back in school days, I love sports and I was a very active boy despite my weight. I had hard time qualifying in alot of school sports events. I never did the high jump or the long jump. School cross-country race was only a 5 mins event for me. In fact, I’ve never qualified in any track and field events during school days…except for shot put.

When I was in Form 3, I made it into the school volleyball team. I played volleyball(3 players a side) back in primary school and we were the runner up for the district level game. Though I wasn’t an ace player but I did my best to be a part of the team. Training was really tough. 3 weeks of training and drilling and I lost 8 kgs but I was still rather fat that time…I was slightly below 85kg at the age of 15.

I played as a sub-setter in my team, this is due to the fact that I can’t jump and can’t spike. But I was really good at serving. Our school won the the Klang District title game and I made it into the district level team as a sub, representing Klang for the state game. Training was tough and so was my weight. At 17, I was touching 90kg. I left Klang High in 1993 as the school team mascot, thanks to one of my school teacher, Ms. Christina Lee for giving me that title -_-”".

I’ve finally found my determination to lose weight when I was in college. Volleyball was no longer possible, it’s pretty hard to gather a full team to play so I started playing basketball. Every evening, I would jog about 1.5 km to the basketball court, shoot some hoops and jog back home. Back home, I’ll continue with some weight training with dumbbells and barbells. After 3 months of daily routine, I managed to get my weight to 75kg. A total of 15kgs off me! Oh yea baby, it feels good! I could run faster, jump higher and even touch the goddamn basketball backboard! My social life got better too ;)

What goes down, must come up! Yep, you read it right. When I started working, it was all nasi lemak, teh tarik, roti telur and nasi kandar. I hardly got time for sports anymore. Over the years, I gained back my weight. I reached the peak of my heaviest moment, a massive 110 kg!!!.

I had a hard time buying clothes and fitting into my jeans and pants was really a struggle. I WAS FAT! REAL FAT!

Taken in year 2000 @ Bangsar mamak.

So in June 2002, I pulled myself together again and went back on a strict diet! I met a friend who introduced me to NeuCD. A complete formula food supplement that I took for 4 weeks! It was my toughest 4 weeks in my entire life! Surviving by just only drinking the formula drink without any food intake at all. The hunger and mental stress finally paid off when I lost a total of 25 kgs!!!. After my diet, I took up kickboxing at TNTKICKBOXING and I further lost another 4 kgs. In less than 3 months, I lost a total of 29 kgs!. I no longer wear size 38 jeans, my tees are from XL to S size and my social life got even better :)

Life is good. I managed to maintain my weight for 2 years. But sometimes all good things must come to an end. I no longer bother how people look at me. I gained back 10 kgs.
