GOODgle Adsense

2 weeks ago, I got a mail sent from Buffalo, NY. Thinking that it was just another bank statement (yes, when you get to your late twenties, you’ll have plenty of mails from the bank), I chucked it aside. 2 days later, I decide to clear my pile of mails and to my surprise, the ’supposingly’ bank statement turns out to be a cheque from GOOGLE INC., issued by CITIBANK, NY!

Finally, I’ve got a decent payback from my time spent on the Internet. Well, this is not my first cheque that I’ve received. I did received a cheque for USD4.85 long time ago but I never did bother to bank in. After conversion, it’s only less than RM20 and the bank will charge me for processing fee and that will cost me RM30 for overseas cheques which totally pointless. So I never did bank in that cheque and I don’t know what happened to it now.

This time, GOOGLE or GOODGLE INC. as I like to call it now, paid me USDXXX! (Yes, it’s a 3 digit figure. I just found out that it’s against Google’s policy to display my income. So too bad :P) Which is quite a decent pay for almost a year effort.

I’m sure you have gotten your share from GOOGLE INC. as well and this is nothing new to some of you. Even though it’s a small amount, it’s definitely nice to get paid off for the effort you’ve put in.

I recommend using BCB to bank in your Google cheque. For me, it usually clears in 3-4 weeks and they don’t charge an arm and a leg for it. The final tally, after the bank charges, is usually an effective conversion rate of RM3.5 to US$1

Bank Muamalat charges RM5 for processing foreign checks. You shouldn’t have thrown ur USD4.00 check away.

And oh, congrats on your first Google check. Welcome to the club :D

BTW it’s not against Google Terms to display the amount, read them again.

It’s only against the terms to display your CTR or CPM.

I’m hoping to reach 4 figures within a few months, Google rox0r

My bank rapes me for banking the cheque tho, costs me about 70RM.

    Congrats for your check! :)

As far as I’m concerned, the best way to make money with Adsense is to develop a website or blog on a niche topic that should also be something you are interested in. Hobby-related sites have the best chances of keeping you, as their webmaster, happy and involved, and this will soon show in the number of visitors and the amounts of money you make.

Another vital thing to consider is ad style and placement. I prefer to use a similar structure for all my websites – one that was proven to work. I will share this with you as I believe in reciprocal help through free advice – I also learned A LOT from browsing blogs such as this and other webmaster resources on Adsense. Ok, so getting back to ad placement: I love the idea of placing a 120×90 or 160×90 adlink box on the left side menu of my sites, in the top left corner, just below the banner. Have a look at my website, and get more tips on How to make money with Google Adsense and look at the area below the graphic saying “Online money” – it will house a nice 160×90 adlinks box soon after my site receives enough traffic.

The second good spot to place a 250×250 or 300×250 ad box is in the article text. Loose the border and make the background of the ads the same as your web background (same is true for the adlink placement mentioned above. The final touch comes with a final ad placed at the end of each araticle. Consider the article a path that leads to the final conclusion – exactly where the ads are. You can also place a small graphic image to the left of the ads, so that they are more attractive from a visual point of view.

By using such an ad placement most of my sites get CTRs of 10%-15% all the time

Give it a try and let me know if this sort of ad placement worked in your particular cases – I am also doing a study on this which I will eventually publish on web2earn.com

    Best regards,

    Mihai
