Are you a savvy driver?
I’ve been ranting quite abit lately and I surely not gonna stop now. Have you ever notice how people drives on the highway? Have you ever notice how YOU drive on a highway?
Yes, we all have funny driving behaviors whenever we hit the big road. I’m one for sure to hit atleast 110 km/h to make sure I get to my destination as soon as possible. But even though I’m driving considerably fast, I’m never quite fast enough for everyone else. Somehow there’s always a Satria or a Wira right behind my tail trying to overtake me on the speed lane… I was doing 120km/h… ok ok …gimme a break, I’m trying to overtake. But even though I was going fast at that speed, there’s always another car going faster than me…why why why?
I’ve been driving on the North South Highway quite often for the past 2 weeks. First was my trip down South to Singapore and then up North to Penang. I’ve told myself not to exceed more than 130km/h at any time and yes, I do keep to my speed limit because I had my auto-cruise mode on.
What’s more interesting is during my trip up to Penang. It started raining right after Bukit Gantang rest area and I had my headlights on. What surprised me was the amount of morons still having their hazard light (double signal) on when they’re moving and on the road. Look, for fucks sake…you can only use your hazard light when you car is parked stationary beside the road or when your car has broken down. If there’s a heavy rain, turn on your freaking headlights! Speaking of headlights, there’s also some idiots who never knew when to turn on their headlights. And these morons drive E240 and Cefiro Brougham. So if you have any elderly relatives who don’t know when to use their hazard light, please do everyone a favour and inform your relative.
Here are some driving tips I would like to share with everyone:
DOs
- Turn on your headlight when there’s a heavy downpour. This will increase visibility for you and for the oncoming traffic.
- Turn on your wiper when there’s a heavy downpour. Rainex don’t work with heavy rain.
- If driving in heavy rain is a problem for you. Pull your car aside and turn on your hazard light.
- Always use your signal light whenever you want to make a turn. Signal atleast 5 seconds before you make a turning and not immediately.
- Blow your car horn to warn vehicles around you and not to scare them.
- If you know your signal light is not working, flash your brake lights by stepping slightly on your brake a few times to get the attention of the vehicle behind you. Then make your turning swiftly.
- High light/High beam - only use them when you’re alone on a dark highway.
- High light/High beam - use them to warn the vehicle in front of you if you wish to overtake on the speed lane.
- High light/High beam - if you notice there’s a speed trap on the opposite traffic, beam your lights to the opposite traffics. This is not to prevent them from getting summons; it also prevents them from any speeding hazards.
DON’Ts
- Don’t drive without your headlights on. This will help you see better in the rain and also let other vehicles notice you.
- Don’t turn on your hazard light (double signal) when it rains heavily. Hazard lights are meant for stationary vehicles parked beside the road.
- Don’t cut into a speed lane without any signal.
- Don’t cut into any lanes without any signal.
- Don’t signal and turn immediately. Always signal atleast 3-5 seconds before you make any turning.
- Don’t blow your horn to irritate other drivers. Be considerate.
- High light/High beam - high beams can be quite blinding to the vehicle infront of you and to any oncoming traffic. Don’t use them when you don’t need them.
- High light/High beam - Don’t purposely tail another vehicle with your high beam on. This made lead to yet another road rage.
- High light/High beam - If you’re vehicle is fitted with HID lights, please please please try to avoid using high beams. HID alone is blinding enough.
Lastly, be a savvy driver and please be considerate when you’re on the road. Speeding and road hogging sucks! I bet Kerol with her new Bestari 206 would appreciate more savvy drivers like you on the road.

just adding to what u rant….. there’s a study in Australia. DOnt use auto cruise when its raining as the constant speed will add to the momentum when you slide over a puddle of water…..you will fly ………….
Bummer…now I know. Better stop using autocruise so often in the rain
1, 2, 6, 7 and 8 are quite common with VIP vehicles with police outriders!
