The Weekend Extra Snoozes
Feel sleepy this morning? Haven’t got enough sleep over the weekend even though you woke up at 4 PM on Saturday? Wonder why? Thank God there’s an explaination to all these grogginess. It’s called SLEEP DISORDER!
Do not be fooled if you think that taking extra snoozes during the weekend can actually help you feel fresher on Sunday or even during the weekdays, because it can’t! According the National Sleep Foundation in Washington, D.C., the average American adult sleeps about 6.9 hours a night, though doctors recommend between seven and nine hours to function properly. But snoozing too much on your days off can make you feel more exhausted than refreshed and exacerbate another problem–daytime fatigue.
Wow, more sleeping hour doesn’t make up for much fresher you. How was I fooled, I’ve been trying to get more sleeping time during the weekends for the lack of sleeping hours during my busy weekdays. It’s something called Sleep Inertia : a transition period from asleep to awake in which a person experiences diminished mental functioning. That explains why I’m so blur during the weekend even though I slept for more than 12 hours! Damn!
So if you are sleep-deprived during the weekday, try to get enough sleep during the weekend but don’t overdo it. Over sleeping will only leave you in a vicious cycle of feeling lethargic.
Oh yah, It may sound contradictory because you’re looking for ways to get sleep, but taking naps during the day may keep you up later at night. Try to avoid catnaps and get a good night of rest instead.
This is gonna be hard for those who party hard on Friday nights. You’ll end up losing more of your weekend time sleeping than enjoying your break time from your hectic working life!
That’s it. I’m not gonna waste my coming weekend just to sleep in more. I wanna do more for this weekend, go shopping, watch a movie and have some Ultimate Mochas with my friends. Sheesh, sounds tiring. I think I’ll just get more sleep
