Stop Praising! It’s Not OK To Lose!

It is yet another humiliating defeat when our U-23 team was thrashed by Oman during the opening match of Group E in DOHA games on Wednesday. Defeat after defeat, it is still ok for us to do bad? Bad is an understatement, we did terribly bad and it comes to a point that it disgust us so much, it shouldn’t be even published on the newspaper.

Stop saying it’s ok to lose! It is NOT OK! And please pleaseeee stop praising them. We have been comforting our own defeats for way too long and it’s time to wake up! Keeping a positive mind is one thing, but lying to ourselves over and over again won’t stop our FIFA ranking from falling further down the abyss.

DOHA

I’m not any big time football critic, I’m just another football fan who is very dissappointed with the performance of our National Football team. I’m not a strategist, I can’t provide any fool-proof game plan that will guarantee success. But I am a Malaysian and I hate to see our National team being thrashed again and again.

For the past 2 years, we’ve sent players for special training overseas and we have more facilities built to train our national team but the outcome is still the same. For instance, this year alone, our Women’s U-19 team was thrashed 22-0 by China PR during the AFC U-19 Women’s Championship back in April. For goodness sake, it’s FOOTBALL, not FUTSAL! 22-0 is really really…gosh, I’m speechless. Then our youth team suffered straight defeat in the Group D matches of the AFC Youth Championship back in October. So, it’s still ok for us to lose?! NO, IT’S NOT OK FOR US TO LOSE!

As an individual, I’ve been taught not to give up easily in anything I do. I used to play volleyball back in school days; even though it’s just a school level competition, I’ve been trained to give my best and to fight to the finish.

We seek victory all the time but victory only goes to the strongest, fastest or smartest. We may not be the strongest or fastest; but I seriously think we can be the smartest. Brazil have Brazilians. France have got their frenchmen and England have got the englishmen. But Malaysia have got Malay, Chinese, Indian, Sikh, Portugese and many other races! We have the best of every part of the continent. We can definitely be the strongest and fastest nation too in the world… but only when we all put our hearts and minds together.

We are Malaysians and we should start supporting Malaysians. The hope is for FAM to stop giving excuses, but instead, to open up and start listening to what we Malaysians can contribute to our own National team.

Perhaps you could share some ideas?

Player selection base on skill, not on skin?

got to agree with you, it seems that we can never run out of excuses. 22-0 scoreline is simply ridiculous, might as well line up 10 people and stand in front of the goal mouth when the score was 10-0 but NO, they did not do that…
