It’s been a tiring week. With all the seminars going on in office and KOO7 around the weekend, I practically slept for less than 15 hours in a week.KOO7 was the highlight of the week and I’m glad that it’s finally over. Took quite a lot out of me to prepare for this tourney. Though it’s not quite a big event but it was indeed the first event for 2007.
Took part in 3000 Limited and Open Singles, double-dipped in those two events which was quite a let down. Fortunately, I survived Open Doubles with Daniel aka Fish and avoided the 3rd doubles-dip curse.
There more tourney to come this year and I really hope to do well this time. So I really gotta make sure I train harder and try my best not to go further down the ranking chart.
My sincere thanks to those who participate and to those who supported KOO7. And greatly appreciate those who worked hard towards the success of KOO7. Thanks team, we did great again this time!
With the recent launch of Visit Malaysia Year 2007 and the new ‘clean’ automatic public toilets in the city centre, I am indeed very impressed with how Malaysians will go to the extend of making plain simple things into sophisticated gadgets.
My experience came when I was in Ipoh last night. When we were on our way back to KL from Penang, we made a quick stop over in Ipoh. We stopped by this little corner kopitiam somewhere in town and after filling up our stomach, I felt the urge to take a leak. I quickly make my way to the gents and luckily it was vacant. Just like any typical chinese kopitiam, the toilet wasn’t like any of those automatic toilets you’ve seen in city centre. It’s not squeaky clean but at least there’s still some civilised Malaysian out there knowing how to flush.
As I was about to step into the toilet, something caught my eye from afar. There’s this long cable dangling from the ceiling right through the lid of the toilet tank. For a moment, I thought that it was some power cable that connects to an electric pump inside the tank.
But as I look up to the ceiling I found that the cable wasn’t really an electric cable after all.
It was just a rope going through a pulley which acts as a toilet flush. It’s another ingenious (cheap) way to get patrons to flush especially when the flush handle is no longer is working condition.
It’s either the owner is a damn cheapo or he/she is just plain genius. The owner chose to drill a hole through the tank lid, tie one end of the rope to the flush valve and the other end over a pulley which was secured to the ceiling. The owner even makes a loop on the end for ease of pulling. Makeshift toilets flush while waiting for the new tank?
No matter what, it definitely fixed the problem. Yes! Yet another MALAYSIA BOLEH! moment.
Just uploaded a short TVC I got over the email quite some time ago. I really find it hilarious so I thought I would share it with everyone. Here’s a TV commercial (TVC) by Olympus featuring its E-500 camera with super wide-angle lense. Really funny… in hokkien style of course!
It’s been months now the speculation on how the new Apple iPhone will look like. Well, speculate no more because the long anticipated Apple iPhone is finally revealed and I love it. The heck with Nokia and Sony Ericcson phones, I need to get my hands on this baby.
Apple totally reinvent the mobile phone by introducing the iPhone. iPhone is sort of like an iPod with phone and internet-working capabilities but with lotsa FUN in it… really. If you don’t believe me, you can go to www.apple.com to read more about it or else you can just read on to what I have to say as a Mac fan.
First of all, iPhone is like this mega-huge widescreen iPod for you to listen to your favourite MP3 files and watch TV shows and movies wherever you go. With it’s 3.5-inch widescreen display, Jurassic Park lives inside this baby. With it’s touch control screen, you can easily access any application with a tap on the screen.
iPhone multi-touch display.
Making phone call is much more fun with iPhone. You can browse through address book with just a point of a finger, NO stylus needed! It also automatically syncs all your contacts from a PC, Mac, or Internet service.. cool eh?
Well, if you think you’ve seen it all, think again. iPhone comes with Safari, the most advanced web browser on a portable device. You can also check and send email with this baby too via Wi-Fi or EDGE.
We now live in a mutimedia world and phones are getting smarter. Besides playing movie and music files, iPhone also allows you to take photos with it’s 2 megapixel built-in camera. And with its built-in advanced sensor, the iPhone’s accelerometer detects when you rotate the device from portrait to landscape, then automatically changes the contents of the display, so you immediately see the entire width of a web page or a photo in its proper landscape aspect ratio.
Ya ya… some of my friends told me you can get all the same features with a Dopod or even HP’s Ipaq but the question is… do they look as cool too? ….. NAHH!
The only downside to iPhone is the built-in camera. With a whopping 8GB built-in memory, I’m sure iPhone can afford a bigger resolution camera than the current 2 megapixel. I’m sure Apple will juice up the camera in no time. Nevertheless, iPhone may not be the smartest phone around, but it’s definitely the coolest!
Yea yea… I didn’t miss 2007 but I did miss out blogging lately. After my company’s big event and all the hoo haa during the last few days of working, we finally got our long deserved 2 weeks holiday. Yes it’s 2 weeks and it’s a compulsory leave. Though having 2 weeks off is cool but it’s not always as good. Our annual leave is usually near year end or rather during peak season so travelling anywhere is really a killer. Lucky for me, I spent most of my 2 weeks leave up in Penang
Lemme summarise 4 weeks of blogging into a single post…
So what happened through the end of December 2006? Well, after the Asian Cup final draw in KLCC Convention Centre on the 19th, we had our company dinner on the 21st. Lucky for me, I was one of the organising committee member and we get to do more work instead of enjoying the dinner night. Thank God everything is over now and we were really happy that the event was a job well done. (Clap clap….give myself a pat on my back)
I was up north in Penang for a quiet Christmas and I kinda enjoy it. Bought Julea a spanking brand new Nokia 7373 La’Amour Collection and she was really happy with it. I’m a happy boy when my baby is happy too
Drove back with Julea and Yen for a weekend in KL and to celebrate the dawning of 2007 with a bunch of my beloved friends. We got an EXECUTIVE SUITE…yes…E.X.C.U.T.I.V.E SUITE (yes yes… you need a keycard to access to that level :p ) in PNB Darby Park just to catch a glimpse of the much talk about fireworks show in KLCC park. It has got a wonderful view of the whole KL but sadly this year’s fireworks display in KLCC park is not as great as it used to be.
The fireworks display quite a disappointment. It only lasted for about 5-6 minutes. What follows after that was so much more interesting. It’s like once in a year kind of affair… everyone getting drunk! We had plenty of booze that night and we lost count of how many bottles we drank.
We started off with Malibu+pineapple juice and it hit the sweet spot immediately although some people call it a pussy drink… who cares!? We are drunk and we are happy.
We have plenty more lining up after that.
The party goes on with more drinking games and it was scary… so scary until David and Hou Wen went missing until I found them hiding in the closet.
It was definitely another memorable new year’s eve for all of us and we hope there’s more to come for everyone. I shall continue the rest in my next post.
