I’ve been noticing an enormous increase of food blogs and food bloggers recently. Some just loves to eat and some loves to cook.

For myself, I’m not a food blogger but I love to eat. I do blog about hokkien food every now and then but not as many like our femmes food blogger, KY. Now KY blogs about food he eats and food he cooks. I’m sure there’s many more food bloggers who love to cook at home too. Cooking can be fun and can be very dangerous too if you do not practise caution.

When I was younger, my dad always reminded me to turn of the gas and the safety valve whenever I’m done cooking my favourite Maggi Me. I never really knew why then but as I grew older, I found out that many fire outbreaks started out from a harmless kitchen stove fire.

Question is, “What do you do when there’s a kitchen fire?”

For those who love cooking at home, I came across this video clip which I think can be very useful information for everyone.

If your cook pan catches fire, don’t panic. Just follow these instructions:

1) Turn off the heat
2) Run a clothe under a tap and drain it out
3) Cover the pan and then wait until it’s cool right down.

Don’t remove the pan, and WHATEVER YOU DO, DON’T THROW WATER OVER THE FIRE!

The effects can be devastating!

Now here’s another movie review on Wild Hogs.

Went over to One Utama during the weekend to catch a movie. Couldn’t get TMNT so we decided to watch Wild Hogs instead and it was excellent!

Never had such a good laugh for such a long time. Wild Hogs is comedy about 4 middle-aged friends who are struggling with mid-life crisis. They seek for the true meaning of life and freedom. They share the same passion for bikes and rides together as “Wild Hogs”.  Tired of their mundane suburban routine, they decided to go on a free-wheeling trip away from the busy city live.

Starring John Travolta(Woody), Martin Lawrence(Bobby), funnyman Tim Allen (Doug) and William Macy(Dudley) together with few other stars, they whipped up a good blend of pure comedy fun.  The best part of the movie is Marissa Tomei who plays Maggie in the movie. I adore her a lot and she’s hotter than ever now. Perhaps this is what they called “Scent of a Woman”?

Ok, enough with Marissa Tomei and back to the show. The whole story is about four of them, set out for a once-in-a-lifetime experience for freedom on the open road, encounters more than what they expected. The road trip challenged their wits and their lucks, especially when they got into trouble with the real-deal biker group called the Del Fuegos. Everything just went bonkers after that.

A movie worth watching with your family and friends. I’ll probably watch it again when I do get the chance.

Here’s another review on my favourite Hokkien Mee. We decided to drive down to KL during the weekend for some good hokkien mee and we ended up in Setapak, at this restaurant right behind Tawakal Hospital. The name of the restaurant is Restoran Aik Yuen.

Restoran Aik Yuen is famous for its deep-fried homemade fish cake and hokkien mee. You can see almost every table will have at least the hokkien mee and fish cakes served. The reason why I decided to go there it’s because of the yummy ‘saito‘ fish cake. It’s crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. One bite is never enough.

Aik Yuen is also famous for its hokkien mee and fried lala. Now I’ve tried so many hokkien mee stalls in Klang Valley so far, Aik Yuen is still one of my favourite. This is because they always give a generous amount of chu yau cha(fried pork lard)!.

And for their fried lala, it’s the best so far. I love the slightly spicy sweet and sour sauce for the lala. It’s da bomb! I find that the fried lala is much better than Restoran Mey Yen in Paramount(will blog about that later). The sweet and sour sauce compliments the lala and the garlic and cili padi makes the dish more interesting! The sauce is so good that I just couldn’t resist dipping my fish cake into it.

Restoran Aik Yuen is uniquely special. Even though they have an existing physical outlet, they still prefer to prepare their food outdoor. There are 3 cooks working the woks, 2 of them will be cooking all the noodle dishes and the other one will be preparing the fried lalas and fish cakes.

They will serve anyone as long as there’s enough space for more tables along the street right infront of the restaurant. We were there until 10pm and there are barely any empty tables available. It’s full all the time so you have to be patient and wait around.

Overall, the food is really good. The hokkien mee is just nice, sticky and black and the lala… the best! The saito fish cake is good but slightly expensive. Anyways, who cares as long as our stomachs are happy. Just take a look at the happy patrons.

The bill came up to RM38 for one hokkien mee (big), one fried lala (med), 2 pieces of fried fish cakes 4 glasses of herbal tea. Slightly more expensive from what we can usually get in PJ but it’s not that we go down to KL all the time for makan. Highly recommended if you want to bring your friends for some good hokkien mee and fried lala.

Hunger Rating is to tell how hungry I am at the moment of time and Satisfaction Rating is the overall rating for the food and presentation.

It is yet another memorable moment when FC BARCELONA defeated GETAFE 5 - 2 in this 1º leg clash, & gave the Football World an incredible goal by MESSI that will go down in history as one of the best. It is being compared to the 1986 World Cup goal by Maradona.

Outrageously similar? What Messi needs now is to score a goal with his hand!
