Mad about Maybank2U

I’ve been a Maybank customer for many years now. I’ve also been fully dependent with their online banking system, Maybank2U.com which is way more convenient than queuing up in long lines.

I was shocked to find out that my M2U account was blocked due to too many password tries…. again!

You have reached the maximum number of password tries. Your Maybank2u.com account has been blocked.
For assistance, please contact Maybank Group Customer Care at 1-300-88-6688 or 603-7844 3696 (overseas).

I usually don’t make such mistake as I’m quite sure I can remember my password very well. This isn’t the first time as I’ve encounter this problem once back in July. I panicked then thinking that someone tried to hack into my account.

This time, I gave the customer careline a call and only manage to find out that M2U is actually using the funniest security system ever.

Unlike any other web services available on the internet, a user needs to pick a unique username and a password. But this is not the case for M2U, any customer can have the same username but with a different password.

Still don’t get me? Ok… Mr. Wee Ken Fatt and Mr. Soo Ken Wee can be using the same username for their M2U username, for this instance, it’s ‘WEE’. So if Mr. Wee Ken Fatt key in ‘WEE’ for his username but punch in the wrong password for 3 times. Both M2U accounts with the username ‘WEE’ will be blocked! How smart!!!

To unblock your account, you will have to call them up but good luck trying to call them. It took me half an hour to get through them and I’m still stuck with the same username with some dingdong who fucking can’t remember his fucking online banking password!!! What a retard, kannineh!

    Hi there,

M2U Customers can create any m2u username to their liking but never 2 or more username be uniquely alike - bear in mind that the m2u username creation process is based on case sensitive criteria e.g. m2u username “tester” with lower case characters and m2u username “TESTER” with upper case characters are treated as 2 different m2u usernames..so if one of it DO gets locked (due to too many pwd retries), the other would not be locked out..

FYi, m2u system will check whether such username (with lower/upper criteria in mind) exists in the system and will reject if there is one available.

Perhaps someone went and logged-in with your m2u username (maybe he/she has the same m2u username as you except that his/her first username character is an uppercase)..who knows…?
