Review : Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010)

Thanks to Mister Potato and Nuffnang, I was invited to watch the special screening of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time at Cathay Cineplex e-Curve. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is a movie based on the 1989 video game, Prince of Persia by Brøderbund, NCS.

My early knowledge of Prince of Persia comes in 16-bit and was played on an Intel 286 pc… running on MS-DOS! It’s one of those games that you load from an old school 5¼-inch floppy disk. I used to play this game a lot but I’ve never really completed the game. Even after I got my PS2, I’ve never completed from any quest.

The Plot
Set in the mystical lands of Persia, a rogue prince and a mysterious princess race against dark forces to safeguard an ancient dagger capable of releasing the Sands of Time — a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.(Very different from the plot of the original 16-bit game.)

The Cast
Starring Jake Gyllenhaal (Jack Twist from Brokeback Mountain) as Dastan, the orphan that soon became the Prince of Persia and Gemma Arterton (Io from Clash of the Titans) as Tamina, the beautiful Princess of Alamut which is also the matriarch of the Guardians of the Sands of Time. Dastan’s father, King Sharaman is played by Ronald Pickup and his two brothers, Tus and Garsiv, played by Richard Coyle and Toby Kebbell. Nizam, King Sharaman’s brother and uncle to Dastan is played by Ben Kingsley (Dr. Cawley from Shutter Island).

The 2-hour movie was quite a feat. Just like the game, there was plenty of wall-jumping and dagger-throwing action. The CGI was nicely done too. However, there’s only one thing that’s missing, there wasn’t any trap door with deadly spears. Ask if I’ll watch it again, definitely yes. I give it a rating of 4/5.

This is how the original 16-bit Prince of Persia game looks like.

Big Fish Moment with Pizza Hut

Pizza Hut latest promo may sound fishy and they have a very good reason for that. The latest promo from Pizza Hut now topped with tender juicy fish fingers and I’m not gonna miss this opportunity to try it out. We decide to go to Pizza Hut and we went to our favourite outlet in Subang Parade.

We were exceptionally hungry that night so we were quite generous with our order. Damien, Amy, Phyden and yours truly, chow-ed down 2 regular pizzas and a large set of Fish King Pizza for 4! Together with 4 bowls of soup with garlic bread stick and a large jug of  Pepsi, it was surely a pleasant feeling to our tummy. The pizza were really good too, I especially liked the Fish King Pizza.

Filled the flavour of the open sea, Fish King Pizza is definitely no ordinary pizza. Fish King Pizza is topped with 8 fish fingers made from specially-imported Alaskan Pollock, crabsticks, Mozzarella cheese, roasted capsicums, yellow onions and juicy pineapples all nicely spread over your choice of regular or cheesy lava crust. We had the regular crust because we didn’t wanna overkill the freshness taste of the Alaskan Pollock fish fingers with excessive yummy and gooey cheese!

If anyone feels like having pizza this weekend, I’d suggest you go get yourself some Fish King Pizza from Pizza Hut.

Good news for pro and budding bloggers, you can now stand a chance to win RM2,000 from Pizza Hut. All you need to do is to blog about your Pizza Hut Fish King Pizza experience and submit your entry to Nuffnang. You can find more details here.

What more can I say, even our 30th Anniversary Pac Man loves the Pizza Hut Fish King Pizza!

I Wanna Watch Toy Story 3

I wanna watch Toy Story 3 because I was there for Toy Story 1 & 2. When the first Toy Story came out in theater back in 1995, I was a graphic design student and 3D animation was a big thing. Toy Story was the first out of the 10 successful feature 3D animation films by Pixar that hit the big screen.

A little googling on the Internet, I found out that Toy Story was the top-grossing film which earn over $191 million in the United States and Canada during its initial theatrical release and took in more than $361 million worldwide.

Toy Story 2 came along in November 1999 and the movie kept most of the original characters and voices from the first movie, including Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Don Rickles, Jim Varney, Wallace Shawn, Annie Potts, John Ratzenberger, John Morris, and Laurie Metcalf. They are joined by new characters voiced by Jodi Benson, Joan Cusack, Kelsey Grammer, Estelle Harris, and Wayne Knight. Toy Story too was a huge success. The movie made a total gross of $485 million worldwide.

Being the graphic guy I am, I was not really keen about the walking and talking toys. I was more into the awesome 3D animation by Pixar. The hilarious storyline and plot was a bonus.

After the successful production of Toy Story series, I’m now looking forward to watch Toy Story 3, which will be aired in cinemas this coming June 2010.

Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, Don Rickles, Estelle Harris, John Ratzenberger, Wallace Shawn, Jeff Pidgeon, Jodi Benson, and R. Lee Ermey, John Morris, and Laurie Metcalf all reprise their roles from the previous films. However, Jim Varney, who played Slinky Dog in the first two movies, and Joe Ranft, who had voiced Lenny and Wheezy, both passed away since the second film.

In Toy Story 3, Andy (John Morris) is now a teenage boy (18 years old). He is just days away from heading off to college, and his toys, including Woody (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), are worried about their uncertain future.

Toy Story 3 will also be featuring a whole bunch of new toys and one that I especially like is Mr. Pricklepants. Mr. Pricklepants is this really rather fluffy (than prickly) porcupine and it kinda reminds me of Dokumon… with a mane.

I’m looking forward to catch this movie on the big screen soon… in 3D! Yeah!

Thanks to Nuffnang, you can stand a chance to catch a special preview of Toy Story 3 in 3D with the rest of the Nuffnangers!

Manchester United New Nike Home Kit 2010-11 – More Leaked Pics?

After posting the supposedly leaked photos of Manchester United 2010-11 new away kit, I come across more photos. This time it’s the new home kit! The new 2010-11 Manchester United home kit too spotted a retro look with short collar which probably suit the great Eric Cantona, if he’s still playing for Manchester United today.

For some reason, I like the home kit better. Perhaps its the red colour :)

Manchester United New Nike Away Kit 2010-11 – Leaked Pics?

There’s been a few supposedly leaked photos of the new Manchester United new kit circulating on the internet recently and being a Manchester United fan, I’m definitely keen on how it looks like. However, it is not what I expected.

Just recently, I found out of yet another supposedly the new 2010-11 New Nike Away kit and it look something like this.

It has got the retro look and kinda plain. Do I like it? Well, whether is a leaked pic or just a mock, I love anything and everything to do with Manchester United… oh, except for the Glazers.

How To Fix : iPhone 3Gs Stuck In Zoom

If you’re having an iPhone 3Gs and your screen is stuck in a zoom mode. Here’s a simple step to fix/restore back your screen.

Seriously, it’s really simple.

1) Using 3 fingers, TAP on your screen 3 TIMES.
2) To prevent from further incident as such, You can turn this off in Settings: General -> Accessibility -> Zoom

Bear in mind that the ZOOM is a feature, not a bug. Many iPhone 3Gs users are unaware of the settings and accidentally zoomed in without knowing how to get out from it.

Break into and reseal a locked suitcase demonstration

How safe is your travel luggage after checking in at the airport especially when you own on of those zipper luggage? Even if your luggage is nicely locked with padlocks, your luggage can still be breached and tempered with without you knowing it.

After watching this video, I’m seriously considering not to get those zipper luggage anymore. I’m not worried about my stuff getting stolen, I’m more worried about what I’ll discover inside my luggage when I’m at the custom checkpoint.

Breaking into and resealing a locked suitcase is as easy as using ballpoint pen!
