Good Bye, Sony Walkman (SNR). R.I.P

October 26, 2010 by Galvin Tan in Technology with 1 Comment

The Sony Walkman (Snr) has reached the end of side two and it’s the end of track for the 80s iconic gadget. Sony has ceased production of its celebrated portable cassette-playing audio device. It is survived by its neater, slicker, more junior MP3 descendant.

It’s always a terrible feeling to lose something important in your life and the Sony Walkman was a big part of my early life. I had my first Sony Walkman when I was 10. My dad bought it for me for my birthday and it was the coolest gift I’ve ever gotten as birthday present. I would tune in my favourite radio show, The American Top 40 hosted by Casey Kasem and even sleep with the headphones still on my ears until the battery runs flat. The Sony Walkman is part of my childhood and I will miss it dearly.
