Let Google Search Do the Maths for You

July 26, 2012 by Galvin Tan in Technology with 0 Comments

It’s quite possible to search almost anything on Google Search nowadays. Google.com has evolved enormously since its inception back in early 1996 as a research project.

Since the past decade, we’ve seen many cool things on Google Search – from interactive doodles to quirky search results for the word ‘askew’.

Before this, whenever you type “17 x 5” into the Google Search box, you’d probably get the answer ‘85’ appearing in bold on the actual search results. However, those whimsical Google geeks have gone a step further by providing you a virtual calculator.

The virtual calculator basically works on most browsers that we use and yes, it even works on mobile devices. While punching the numeric buttons on desktop browser is kind of ineffective, the virtual calculator definitely comes in handy to most of the touchscreen mobile devices.

Today, Google Inc. is a multi-billion dollars company and yet it remains as the simplest and coolest search engine in the world.
