Faster Passport Renewal with MyONLINE*PASPORT – Malaysia Passport Renewal Made Easy

October 18, 2012 by Galvin Tan in Technology with 0 Comments

I just recently had my passport renewed and I must say that I’m still pretty impressed with the whole entire process. I found out about the Online Renewal Service by Immigration Department of Malaysia not long ago and decided to give it a try. To my surprise, the whole enture process took me less than 1 hour.

MyONLINE*PASPORT is the passport renewal application and payment online through the internet. Through MyONLINE*PASPORT, payment can be made online by using direct debit facilities (FPX), or credit card.

The online process takes less than 15 minutes, provided you have three things ready – a passport size photo in digital copy, your old passport (passport no. will do too) and a valid credit/debit card. For specifications of the passport photo, you can refer to MyONLINE*PASPORT page.

Once you have that three things ready, you can proceed to the official portal of Immigration Department of Malaysia. Look for the ONLINE SERVICES menu and click on ‘Application for Renewal of Passport’. This will prompt you to another page where you will have to key in your details and upload your photo.

Follow the on-screen instructions on the page and you will come to the part where you will have to upload your photo and do the necessary cropping of size. Don’t worry, everything is done via the page itself.

Once photo is uploaded and submitted, you will need to pay for the passport fee. The fees are RM100 for 2 Years renewal, RM300 for 5 Years and half price fees (RM150) for 5 years for child under 12 years old. I paid RM100 for 2 years renewal because I like to change my photo on passport earlier. You have to key in your credit card details and then submit. Once the payment goes through, you’re done. You’ll then get a confirmation page on when to pick up your passport, probably few hours later. So if you do your online submission in the morning, you can probably collect your passport at your chosen branch in the afternoon.

Picking your passport requires you to be physically there. No representatives as they still need you to be there to re-submit your thumbprint into the system. The whole process at the branch will probably take 30-45 mins. To be honest, that really save a lot of time as compared to how we do passport renewal those days.

So, if you’re passport is expiring soon. Do give MyONLINE*PASPORT a try and renew your passport online. It’s really simple.
