“I Am Iron Man”

As convincing as the title may sound, no, I’m not Iron Man but this movie definitely gets my two ‘iron thumbs’ up!. Yet another great movie from Marvel comics after many great success with their comic range superheroes.

Iron Man

Love this movie a lot and for some reasons, I felt that this movie is far better than Transformers. The shinny armor and sophisticated mechanism of the suit totally blows me off my mind! It’s awesome how far CG has improved over the years. Transformers was cool and definitely a great movie but somehow it lacks a good storyline. Instead, Iron Man tells a great story on the emergence of a great superhero.

Robert Downey Jr. played a great role as Tony Stark, the billionaire genuis who created the armor suit that saved him and then made him a superhero.

Iron Man

After missing in action for quite a while, Gwen definitely put on a great role as Pepper Potts, Tony’s PA who too saved his life.

Now, I’ll leave the review to the rest. What I can say is, this movie is a must watch. At least try to catch it on the big screen.

Iron Man
Seriously, don’t you just love this?

2 BKT sessions and an Angry Man

Look, I’m not a food critic but I’m very much a Klangite. Although I wasn’t really born in Klang, but I spent more than a quarter of century here in this little town called KLANG.

Now Klang is famous for BKT, everyone knows about that. What boils me is when people do not know how to appreciate the best of Klang.

I have this sudden crave for pork today. So during lunch time, there’s a new BKT stall just opened nearby my office in Bukit Jalil. Okay, I should know better not to complain about other places for BKT when I know Klang is the best. But then again, how would I know Klang is the best when I haven’t tried others, right?

I’m not a big fan of any other parts of the cute little piggy, so I usually stick to lean meat or ribs. The next thing the towkay asked whether I want additional mushrooms, I said no.

After a good 10 mins, food is served. There’s nothing fancy about BKT, usually is a bowl of pork and a plate of rice. But the taste of the BKT is horrendous. The soup is so freaking diluted it taste like boiled water with soya sauce. Not the mention the PLAIN white rice instead of the fragrant rice they usually served in Klang.

As if that was not bad enough, the meat, oh gosh…the meat.. I can hardly chew it. I hate it when they pre-cook the meat separately from the soup and then heat it up together before serving to customer. KNN, It doesn’t taste good at all, don’t they get it!?

My indian colleague had a sip of the soup and she don’t like it either. She told me that the other stall we had BKT earlier in Old Klang Road was much better. I was like WTF!?!?!?!? That stall is a rip off and it’s not much different from what we’re having now!!! OMG!! I lit up a cigarette and let off the topic.

My crave for pork was not satisfied, so for dinner I had BKT again. Sadly, the sameeeeeeeeee shit happens again. Diluted soup, raw tasteless pork and worst of all, freaking plain white rice?????

Okay guys, enough is enough. As a patron, know that BKT is not just pork in soya-sauce like soup. I’ll spare you the history lesson, go read it on Wikipedia. Let me show you how the original KLANG BKT is served!

Klang Bah Kut Teh

THE ORIGINAL WAY. See carefully! Plate of rice with a bowl of BKT only.

Here’s the YES and NO of how we have BKT in Klang:

YES, we have BKT in the morning. Usually a single bowl of pork with a plate of rice. Of course, tea is a must!

NO, BKT is not just meant for lunch, dinner or even supper! Some may try to grab the opportunity to sell BKT for hungry drunkards at night. Fuck, you are drunk and you’re hungry. Anything you eat taste good, damnit!

YES, the original BKT is served in a small bowl with pork and soup ONLY! No other extra ingredients! Extra mushrooms, taupok or even abalone is just to make extra money. Those extra stuffs will totally kill off the herbal taste.

NO, claypot BKT is not as good because of the extra ingredients in it. The bigger it is, the more the charge! Don’t be fooled!

YES, we eat BKT with a plate of rice, folk and spoon.

NO, we don’t eat BKT in a bowl with chopsticks. Screw the tiny bowl! We like to flood our plate with soup.

YES, the original BKT herbal soup is thick and dark. Not too salty and not too sweet with the right among of chinese herbs in it.

NO, BKT soup is not diluted like kopi-o nipis with ice.

YES, the pork is boiled in the soup for hours and the meat must be really tender and juicy.

NO, the pork must not taste like raw steak with a SPEARMINT brand on it. Damn, I hate chewy pork.

So know your BKT. It’s your right!

Smallville and Justice League

It’s been quite a while since I last watch Smallville and now I’m back on Smallville-a-thon again. I got my copy of Season 6 about a day ago and now I’m down to the last disc, #6.

Lots of thing changed in this season of Smallville and the best part of it would be the introduction of Justice League featuring the Green Arrow, Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg. For those who read DC Comics before will know that there’s more heroes in the Justice League and I really hope that more these heroes will be featured in the upcoming season.

Meet the Smallville Justice League.

For those of you who don’t know, meet the DC Comic Justice League.

Superheroes are awesome!

UPDATE: 2 hours later.

FYI, I just finished watching season 6 of Smallville.

Makan Hokkien Mee at Restoran Nam Yang, Klang

Klang - Bandar Di Raja is also well known for its Hokkien Community. Being a Klangite and a Hokkien myself, I wish to tell the whole world that Klang is not just all about Bah Kut Teh. There are plenty of other good stuffs that can be found here… for example, me! … well ok, not ME but the Hokkien Mee!

If you’re ever in Klang at night and craving for some Hokkien Mee, why not go to Restoran Nam Yang for some tasty and full of chu yau char (fried pork lard) Hokkien Mee!

Restoran Nam Yang

Restoran Nam Yang is located along Jalan Meru, just around the corner of Klang Parade. The restaurant is just beside yet another famous food restaurant, Restoran Lai Choon Bah Kut Teh.

Restoran Nam Yang

My family usually goes there for dinner. They serve the best kung-po fried mantis prawns (kung-po lai liu har) in town. But since there are only 3 of us for dinner, we decided to have Hokkien Mee only.

Hokkien Mee

Although this is not my first choice of place to go, Restoran Nam Yang do dish out quite good Hokkien Mee too. The Hokkien Mee here in Klang is definitely better than those I had in PJ. Some may disagree with me but then again, I grew up eating Klang food :p

Hokkien Mee

There’s generous amount of fried pork lard (chu yau char) and the right amount of time on the wok. The dish is not too saucy and not too dry.

Unlike other places out of Klang, we Klangites do not really fancy to have fried lala with Hokkien Mee. So don’t be surprised if you don’t see any lala dish around.

Fried Lala Omelette

But if you really do crave for some lalas, there is a stall selling fried lala omelette (lala jian) and it’s one of the best in Klang too, well at least it is for me. The omelette is rather thin which makes it really crispy on the outer layer but once you make your way in, it’s really yummy and chewy.

Fried Lala Omelette

Garnished with generous amount of spring onions and bean sprout (tau geh), it doesn’t just taste great, it looks really appetizing too.

Good Meal

Nothing beats a good, satisfying meal. A simple meal for 3 person only cost us RM20. Reasonably cheap for such a good meal.

Makan Nasi Lemak Panas at Gerai Selera 223, PJ

Monday basketball was really tiring but it was good. I didn’t have dinner so I dropped over at KY’s to see whether they want to go yumchar or not. I totally forgotten that KY has got his Monday badminton session with some friends, so it was myself and Sotong.

We went over to my favourite nasi lemak panas place in PJ, Gerai Selera 223. This place is kind of hard for someone to find if you’ve never been there before. You’ll never thought of such place existed, it’s a small food court located right smack in the middle of huge office blocks and factories. Anyways, the food court is just right across AMWAY Headquarter in PJ. At night, there are a number of stalls open for the night crowd but the rest of the stalls only serve the day crowd.

Whenever I’m craving for some cheap nasi lemak panas, this is the place to be. Now there are 2 mamak stalls and a number of malay food stalls operating at night. I usually go to stall No. 1, the first mamak stall on the left.

Gerai No.1

Once seated, the first thing you must order is the Milo Ais Kaw (iced Milo). The mamak stall No.1 served the best milo ais I’ve ever had because it’s really really kaw! Even if you’re not a milo fan, give it a try, you’ll love it.

Telur Setengah Masak and Milo Ais

Another thing you must have is the telur setengah masak (half-boiled egg), trust me and get yourself a set. They served the best telur setengah masak, not too cooked and not too raw.

Nasi Lemak Panas

On your table, you’ll probably have 2 trays of nasi lemak. There are 2 different stalls serving nasi lemak, you can tell the difference from the coloured stamping on the wrapper. I usually go for the black stamping nasi lemak because the sambal is not too hot. The other nasi lemak (in red stamping) is not quite my taste. Sambal is not as tasty and sometimes they missed out on the good stuff, ikan bilis.

Lately, I’ve been trying to eat moderately. We usually take 2-3 packs of nasi lemak but this time I only had 1 pack of nasi lemak panas with a set of telur setengah masak and milo ais.

Ahhh…

The bill came up to RM3.50 for a pack of nasi lemak panas, a set of telur setengah masak and a glass of milo ais kaw. Rather cheap for PJ standard.
