Tune In : Wilson Philips - Hold On

After my experience in a Karaoke the last time, here’s my attempt to introduce some good evergreen songs to everyone out there.

HOLD ON
WILSON PHILIPS

I know this pain
Why do lock yourself up in these chains?
No one can change your life except for you
Don’t ever let anyone step all over you
Just open your heart and your mind
Is it really fair to feel this way inside?

[Chorus:]
Some day somebody’s gonna make you want to
Turn around and say goodbye
Until then baby are you going to let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don’t you know?
Don’t you know things can change
Things’ll go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can you hold on for one more day
Things’ll go your way
Hold on for one more day

You could sustain
Or are you comfortable with the pain?
You’ve got no one to blame for your unhappiness
You got yourself into your own mess
Lettin’ your worries pass you by
Don’t you think it’s worth your time
To change your mind?

[Chorus]

I know that there is pain
But you hold on for one more day and
Break free the chains
Yeah I know that there is pain
But you hold on for one more day and you
Break free, break from the chains

Some day somebody’s gonna make you want to
Turn around and say goodbye
Until then baby are you going to let them
Hold you down and make you cry
Don’t you know?
Don’t you know things can change
Things’ll go your way
If you hold on for one more day yeah
If you hold on

Don’t you know things can change
Things’ll go your way
If you hold on for one more day,
If you hold on
Can you hold on
Hold on baby
Won’t you tell me now
Hold on for one more day ‘Cause
It’s gonna go your way

Don’t you know things can change
Things’ll go your way
If you hold on for one more day
Can’t you change it this time

Make up your mind
Hold on
Hold on
Baby hold on

WILSON PHILIPS
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wilson Phillips was an American singing group made up of Carnie Wilson, Wendy Wilson and Chynna Phillips. Although their success in the early 1990s was brief, they scored four Grammy Award nominations, two American Music Award nominations and a Billboard Music Award, [1] they are also famous for being the offspring of prominent musicians; the Wilsons are the daughters of Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys, while Phillips’s parents are John Phillips and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas & the Papas.

Karaoke with the right friends

I went on a Karaoke outing one night with some of my younger fooser friends and it was quite a mistake. Besides the fact it was on a weekday, singing in karaoke with the wrong crowd was really really arkward!

It was ok at the beginning when I sat in. They were singing songs from Jay Chou and quite a number of other chinese songs. I like those songs but I didn’t really sing along as I don’t speak mandarin or rather sing mandarin that well.

So while the girls are singing, I took the opportunity to fiddle around with the remote and keyed in quite a number of my favourite karaoke hits. After a couple more songs, my selection finally came up. It was Careless Whisper by George Michael (Wham!) and none of them in the room know of the song except me! It was really arkward singing the song alone and none of them seems to know any part of the lyrics. This went on for the next couple of songs and after that I just left the remote alone.

After running out of chinese songs to sing, the girls decided to sing some English songs. Finally, some songs that I can sing along to. To my f*#king surprised, they sang TATU - All The Thing She Says! Who the f*#k sings to TATU? Is it even a song at the first place and how can you sing to it? They girls were like so excited and sad to say, they can’t really sing to it but ended up reading the lyrics instead. So that’s it, I told myself no more karaokes with the younger crowds. I’m sticking to peers of my age.

CARELESS WHISPERS
GEORGE MICHAEL (WHAM)

Time can never mend the careless whispers, of a good friend
To the heart and mind, ignorance is kind
There’s no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you’ll find

Should’ve known better

I feel so unsure
As I take your hand and lead you to the dance floor
As the music dies, something in your eyes
Calls to mind the silver screen
And all its sad good-byes

I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it’s easy to pretend
I know your not a fool

Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I’ve been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

Time can never mend
The careless whispers of a good friend
To the heart and mind
Ignorance is kind
There’s no comfort in the truth
Pain is all you’ll find

I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it’s easy to pretend
I know your not a fool

Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste this chance that I’ve been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

Never without your love

Tonight the music seems so loud
I wish that we could lose this crowd
Maybe it’s better this way
We’d hurt each other with the things we’d want to say

We could have been so good together
We could have lived this dance forever
But no one’s gonna dance with me
Please stay

And I’m never gonna dance again
Guilty feet have got no rhythm
Though it’s easy to pretend
I know your not a fool

Should’ve known better than to cheat a friend
And waste the chance that I’ve been given
So I’m never gonna dance again
The way I danced with you

(Now that you’re gone) Now that you’re gone
(Now that you’re gone) What I did’s so wrong
That you had to leave me alone
