Ah Ping BKT is perhaps the only shop that serves a good pot of Klang-style BKT. Now there are plenty of BKT restaurants now in Klang Valley and all of them have different taste with different ingredients. Some BKT operators claim that they serve authentic Klang BKT but being a Klangite, I know very well which is authentic and which is not.

Most restaurants nowadays like to serve BKT in clay pot, unlike those days when they only serve it in a small ceramic bowl with nothing else but pork and soup. With the clay pot, more additional ingredients can be served such as pork intestines, button mushrooms, Enokitake mushrooms or better known as Golden Needle mushrooms, fucok and taupok. Some places they even dished in abalone and scallops just to make it more interesting and obviously, more expensive. Now I love my BKT just the way it is, a good piece of pork in nice thick herbal soup. I don’t mind the extra mushrooms, fucok and taupok but nothing else. Condiments with garlic and cili padi is a must. Another item which is very popular for dipping is the Yau Char Kwai.

At Ah Ping, you have the choice of having soup-base or dry BKT. Dry BKT is basically a kung-po style dish with pork, shredded dried cuttle fish, dried chillies in thick soya sauce boiled till it’s almost dried up. It is also one of my favourite dish at Ah Ping BKT. The dry kung-po BKT was not a common BKT dish until the late 90′s.

Ah Ping’s clay pot BKT is best served with fucok, taupok and button mushrooms. I never quite like the lettuce in my clay pot BKT as it tends to dilute the soup.

Whenever we’re there, we will make everything is nicely cleaned up. We will ask for extra soup and usually that too will be enjoyed till the very last drop.

As you can see, we enjoy Ah Ping BKT soup a lot and we drink it by the ladle.

Ah Ping and wife are from Klang and both of them are health freaks. The cycle a lot and some times the can close for business just to go for cycling trips.

Now Ah Ping BKT opens daily except for alternate Mondays. They’re open for business from 5pm onwards and usually closed by 9.30pm or sometimes earlier. I will definitely bring my friends to Ah Ping BKT anytime. Their price is pretty reasonable too. A serving for 2 person is less than RM20.

WHY ME?

If not me, who else? But seriously, if I don’t meet Wayne Rooney now, most likely I will never get this chance to meet him again.

That’s right. Everyone deserves to have a chance, an opportunity to get what they want in life. But to get what I want, first I need to go get it and earn it. And this is exactly what I’m gonna do now.

THE CHALLENGE

Recently, I took part in a challenge organised by Tiger FC and it’s called the Tiger Beer Regional Online Influencer Challenge. I’m now shortlisted to be in the running to meet Wayne Rooney in person. For me to win this challenge, I will need your help to see me through.

First I will need to prove myself why I deserve to win this challenge via this blog entry. Football is a game played by 11 players in a team, as the Captain, I will need to find 10 more friends to be my teammates to support me to win this challenge.

So what’s in for you and me if we win? As team captain, I will get to go meet Wayne Rooney in person. I will score a chance to kick some football and have some beer time with him. As my teammates, they will get some official merchandise signed by the Man United hitman himself. After that, we will have our very own beer party to celebrate our victory.

A CHAMPION

Who is Wayne Rooney? Wayne Rooney is the main hitman for Manchester United FC, the club that I support and adore. Recently he became the Champion of Tiger FC, an ambassador for Tiger Beer. To a die hard fan and supporter of Manchester United FC like me, Wayne Rooney is like  God. He’s the man that will help us win a few more trophies this year. He’s the man that will bring more glory to the club. His positive attitude now will help pull the team together and lift the spirit and confidence of all the players. Even when he’s badly challenged and tackled, he just won’t budge or take a dive. He is strong and he will never give up easily. He is a Champion… just like me.

I am a Champion because I too share similar trade to Wayne Rooney. I too posses the positive attitude of never giving up. As you can see, I’m nothing like Wayne Rooney physically. However, being a plus size guy, I’ve never let my weight problem stop me from doing things I love the most.

I love playing volleyball and basketball. Back in school days, I represented my school volleyball team. We won the state championship. I was still an overweight player then but that never stop me from becoming one of the top player in the team. I was a good sub-setter and the best server in the team. That was back in high school days though.

Now as a working adult, I still play basketball socially with some friends. Despite my heavy weight, I can still play competitively with the rest of them. Recently, I became a Rookie Champ in a Table Soccer (Foosball) tournament. I am now the oldest Rookie Champ within the foosball community.  You see, I’ve always been an good player since I pick up playing foosball more than a decade ago. I’ve more than a handful of trophies in different category but never in a Rookie event. I started playing foosball competitively when I was in my mid 20′s. Because of my age, I’m not eligible to play in any Rookie event. However this year, a slight change in the system, I’m eligible to play in the Rookie Doubles event. My partner was a 19 year old young chap and we fought our way to become the new Rookie Double Champs.

I also teamed up with another friend in the same competition and won 3rd placing in the Open Doubles event.

After more than a decade playing foosball competitively, I’m finally a Rookie Champ. That’s because I did not give up and I will never give up! That’s an attitude of a Champion… just like Wayne Rooney.

I’ve been a big fan of BMW ever since I laid eyes on a BMW 3 series (E30) during my younger days. Since then, I told myself that one day I must put my hands behind the steering wheel of a BMW. Opportunity came knocking when I got invited to BMW Innovation Days 2010 where I get to test drive some exotic models of BMW. I invited my friend Cyrus Foo to come along too.

Our host for the event was Quill Automobiles in PJ SS14 and they do know how to put up a great event. Upon registration, we were treated with some light beverages and Japanese food. We toured around the showroom and took photos of all the available models there. We then proceed to a short briefing before heading out on a convoy to Shah Alam stadium where we will be given a chance to test our BMW driving skills.

I personally wanted to try the X6 but unfortunately the pre-selected vehicles did not include the X6. The next best thing was the Z4 but that too was taken. So we settled for the 325i convertible instead. It’s a good choice as it’s not every day I get to drive a two-door convertible.

There were about 20 of us there and they split us into 2 groups. Our group leader happened to be an ex-race car driver, Ivan Kong. He’s a great race car driver and a great mentor. He guided us all along the way to our destination via a walkie-talkie provided in each vehicle and trusts me; he’s good at what he’s doing.

THE CONVOY
The convoy begins from Quill Automobiles turning into Damansara Highway. We then took the exit at Damansara toll and headed towards Shah Alam via the New Klang Valley Expressway. During the convoy, Ivan guided us well and encouraged us to test the power of our vehicle. So we step on it and boy… it was really fun. Half way through the journey, we swapped driver so Cyrus got a chance to punch the accelerator too.

Upon reaching Shah Alam stadium, we were delighted to see rows of BMW training cars lining up at the car park, waiting just for us to get behind the wheel. To our surprise, these training cars are the new BMW 320d Sports and they are… really really powerful despite being a diesel-powered machine.

Ivan briefed us through the training so that we can try out for ourselves, why BMW is the Ultimate Driving machine. The first task was the braking test. We are encourage to speed up and then slam the brake as hard as we can and try to maneuver the car to safety without knocking down any of the cones. This is to test BMW’s ABS braking capability.

Next task was the maneuverability test. We have to maneuver the car around a line of cones swerving left and right without knocking them down. The last task was the braking test again. This time, we need to drive the car as fast as possible and hit the brakes as hard to a full stop. The trick was to stop the car right inside the rectangular box of cones. This test was to gauge our judgment during an emergency and hitting the brakes hard. It was a good training as we may not know the braking capability of our BMW vehicle as an owner. Surely, if we own a BMW, we definitely won’t want to be risking our own beloved vehicle

THE JOURNEY BACK
The tasks were indeed a good training for all of us. Before we head back to Quill showroom, we get to swap cars again. This time round, we got the BMW 320d Sports again. We now get to try the diesel-powered vehicle on the highway and I must say it was really an exhilarating journey. When we got back to the showroom, we were treated to some refreshments and given a door gift after filling up a feedback form.

If you’re anything like me, you usually think of your pics in terms of content: Here’s me smiling. Here’s me looking tough. Here’s me in Hawaii with that wacky turtle. And so on. Today, however, we’ll analyze photography from a numerical angle-we’ll discuss flash, focus, and aperture instead. We feel like people don’t really think about these things when they choose a profile photo, and yet, as we shall see, their misuse can seriously mess you up.

As always, our data comes from dating site OkCupid, one of the largest, and most interesting, datasets on the web. This article aggregates 11.4 million opinions on what makes a great photo.

I find this article a good read and since I’m an iPhone user, it’s a good thing for me to brag about it so I emailed the link to my fellow colleagues of my department.

My email subject goes something like this:

“Subject : iPhone users have more sex than BB users. That’s bcoz BB users spent more time trying hard to punch those tiny buttons.”

My email did stir a little drama. Minutes later, I’ve got a reply from a colleague. He’s obviously not a big fan of iPhone and his email subject reads:

“Subject : iPhone users who don’t know about tiny buttons are useless at sex”

“Subject : When iPhone user sees a button, they touch it…not punch it You see, iPhone users usually ‘suck’ with buttons :p”

Now, 2 hours later, still no reply from my colleague. LOL Pwns!

It was a joyful and tiring weekend having to go through some intense battle with some younger opponents which is half my age.

Now, I’ve been playing competitive foosball for years now – based on experience, I’m no longer a rookie but following the new ranking system, somehow I’m still eligible to play in the Rookies category. So I took the opportunity to play in the Rookie Doubles event.

My original partner stood me up last minute, so I had to pair up with another partner, a young talented chap by the name of Danny Lu. Funny thing is his partner stood him up too.

It’s a risky partnership because we have never teamed up together before in any tournament. However we manage to get along fine throughout the tournament and Danny proves himself to be a very skillful and strong player. We fought all the way to the finals and won the Rookie Doubles title. Perhaps it’s a blessing in disguise.

Another partnership that proves to be fruitful is with my old partner, Cyrus Foo. We fought our way to semi-finals of the Open Doubles event only to be let down by fatigue and tiredness. However, we are rather happy with 3rd placing considering that we haven’t been playing as a team for a couple of tournaments.

Double joy for me and suddenly I’m no longer a Rookie. It’s back to the sharp pool again.

Slash, the former Guns N’ Roses lead guitarist rocked Sunway and his fans last night with what I consider as the greatest hard rock concert in Kuala Lumpur for the year 2010. Lucky me, I’ve got a VIP ticket courtesy of my elder brother.

I must say, this concert brings back some memories as swarms of ‘old school rockers’ put up a long queue into the vicinity of Sunway Lagoon. A totally different crowd from MTV World Stage because these fans are passionate hard rock lovers as compared to the MTV concert last weekend.

The 45-year-old guitar legend, together with his friends jammed a number of songs from his newly launched self-titled solo album, Slash with Myles Kennedy as lead vocalist. Myles Kennedy is the co-lead guitarist for the hard rock band Alter Bridge and he is pure awesomeness. He pulls off a pretty good vocal singing Sweet Child O’ Mine, although I still prefer it to be Axl Rose, but nevertheless he still managed to attract the crowd to sing along. Check out the video below as the crowd rock out with Slash and Myles… it’s orgasmic!

Slash and Myles also performed a couple more songs from GNR’s original tracks such as Paradise City and Civil War. The crowd was in total trance headbanging to the heavy beat of the drum and screeching guitar tunes of Paradise City. I haven’t had such good experience since God knows when. Gosh…how I miss rock concerts.

Although I enjoyed myself at the concert, I was also put off by the bad event organising by the organizer. There isn’t any proper signage of how to get to which part of the are and the crowd control crew is all bullshit. I’ve got friends having PS1 & 2 tickets who made it into the VIP zone. So what’s up with that, Mr. Event Organizer? You guys suck!

Nevertheless, Koay Ling, Dennis and myself had an enjoyable time rocking to Slash and Myles (not the event organising). We’ll be looking forward to more rock concerts in near future and hopefully there will be more hard rock concerts in Kuala Lumpur this year.
