I’ve decided to change some parts  and extend it’s battery life too. I went shopping for some iPhone 3G parts from some online website and got the parts a week after. Because I’m gonna DIY, buying parts of the Internet is definitely gonna be cheaper.

YouTube DIY Video
There are plenty of DIY videos to repair iPhone 3G on YouTube. Be sure you find the one which is clear and easy to understand. You don’t wanna miss any important steps which could probably render your iPhone useless.

I followed these YouTube videos to remove the battery and to replace the back cover.

Tips and Hints

1. Tools
   Get yourself a good set of precision tool screw drivers. Get a good piece of magnetised Phillips head screwdriver as you may need that most of the time. If it’s not magnetised, you can temporary magnetise it with a small fridge magnet. Picking up the micro screws can be a pain. You will also need a good pair of tweezers.
2. Removing the screen
   The two YouTube videos have got different ways of removing the front screen off the casing. I suggest you get a suction cup to remove the front screen. Using the iPhone plastic toolkit can potentially damage the rubber padding running along the side of the screen.
3. Removing the screws
   iPhone 3G is a very compact phone so everything inside the iPhone is very very tiny. So make sure you put all the tiny screws somewhere safe and make sure you put them into groups. (e.g.: back cover screws, motherboard screws and etc)
4. Cables
   Listen and pay attention to the YouTube video as it will advice you on the cables you have to detach before removing the screen and motherboard. You can to do it correct and be patience when you’re trying to put it back together. It can get pretty tricky.

Caution
It may look easy to replace parts on the iPhone but I can assure you it’s not. I DO NOT condone anyone to disassemble their iPhone 3G especially if it’s still under contract. This post is just for your viewing pleasure only.

Some of the parts I purchased are OEM parts so re-assembling the iPhone can be tougher trying to fit it properly. Lastly, patience is very important here if you wanna get it done correctly.

Steve Jobs of Apple has unveiled its new iPhone 4 after weathering months of leaks and speculations. Finally, we have a confirmation on the iPhone 4 and yes I still love it very much. I will not go through the details of the new hot stuff, you can check it out yourself on numerous tech-gadget blogs which have been following the new iPhone 4 very closely.

However, I do wish to express my excitement. I’ve been very patient awaiting for the next Apple iPhone and now I finally get to own it.

The phone will be available in white or black, retailing at $199 for the 16GB model and $299 for 32GB. They go on sale June 24th, and AT&T will be giving some extra grace upgrade timing — up to six months early. The 3GS will be dropped to $99 and the 3G will disappear completely. Pre-orders start in a week, with 5 countries at launch (US, France, Germany, UK, Japan), with 18 more following in July.

Maxis has announced that they will be launching the new Apple iPhone 4 in the next few months. However, they did not specify which month. So be patient, we have waited this long, another month or two won’t kill.

This is Steve Jobs response to Gizmodo…

In April 19, 2010, Gizmodo claimed that some Apple engineer had lost the soon-to-be announced iPhone 4G at some bar and they claimed that they had bought the device from the person who found it. Gizmodo paid USD5,000 for the device only to be stripped down into pieces and published it on their website. However, Apple claimed that the device was stolen instead.

My first experience with an Apple computer was the Macintosh LCIII, one of the slickest piece of machinery I’ve ever seen (back then of course). I still remember my first tour to LIMKOKWING’s computer lab. Rows and rows of Apple Macintoshes… sweet! It was like being in computer heaven and being greeted happily by those smiley Mac logos.

My dad then bought me my first Apple Macintosh, the Powermac PPC. Spent a fortune on it but I it was worth it. I had a fair share of good and bad moments with that machine. With ‘blistering’ speed of 100 MHz processing power, 32MB RAM with 500MB harddisk space. The Powermac PPC was my best companion for the next 3 years.

When I started working, I managed to get my hands on some other Mac machines and many things change after that.

At the moment, it’s still pretty hard to get an iPhone here in Malaysia, so I got a friend to bring it back for me from Shanghai. I got the 16GB model which also comes in white, but I prefer it to be black. The 8GB model only comes in black.

What I like about the new iPhone 3G is it’s sleek exterior. Unlike iPhone, iPhone 3G is covered with a extremely glossy, hard plastic back cover. And the new rounder contour of the back is much more comfortable for the palm.

It’s so nice that I quickly went out to buy myself a leather casing to prevent any unwanted scratches on the surface of my new gadget.

The casing comes with a matching leather strap and it so much more easier now to take out my iPhone from my pocket.

Just got it UNLOCK and JAILBROKEN, so gonna be really busy tonite, downloading tons of applications which are available on the internet.
