iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C

Apple has announced that the new iPhone 5S and 5C will be reaching Malaysian shores on November 1, major telcos and Apple resellers in Malaysia are putting up teaser ads and gearing up for the much awaited launch. And with just two weeks to go, Malaysian Wireless has got some insider information of the pricing of iPhone 5S and 5C in Malaysia.

We are not sure the accuracy of this information but we’re pretty certain that these prices are definitely cheaper than the current retail price of parallel import units. Check out this price list from a local mobile phone vendor in Malaysia.

iPhone 5S and 5C Will Be In Malaysia on 1 November

iPhone-5C-and-5S

It took them a while but the iPhone 5S and 5C is set to reach Malaysia on 1 November.  The release is part of Apple’s product logistics for both devices to 35 countries on 25 October and 16 countries (including Malaysia) on 1 November.

However, there are no news so far from major telcos such as Maxis, Celcom and DiGi on the price and pre-booking dates. But I guess things will get pretty busy in the next two weeks or so.

The iPhone 5S will be available in silver, gold and space gray. Although we haven’t heard anything about the price for the iPhone 5S, but according to the trend so far, the price won’t stray further than the previous iPhone 5 launch. The iPhone 5C is supposedly to be cheaper but don’t put your hopes too high, I’ve got a feeling the iPhone 5C price will start at RM1599 for the non-contract unit.

Singtel Announces iPhone 5S and 5C Price Plans

iphone_5s_5c

Looks like our neighbour down south will be first to receive the much anticipated iPhone 5S and 5C while Malaysians have to wait a little longer before they can get their hands on it. Singtel today announces the pricing plans for the iPhone 5S and 5C variants.

The iPhone 5S will retail starting from $698(RM1798) for the 16GB model when bundled with SingTel’s cheapest two-year contract. The 32GB model will cost $818(RM2106), while the 64GB model will go for $968(RM2494) under Singtel’s SuperLite plan.

The iPhone 5C will start at $468(RM1206) for the 16GB model under the same plan, and as for the 32GB model, it will be $698(RM1798).

It is still unknown when will Maxis, Celcom and even DiGi will make an official announcement of the arrival of iPhone 5S and 5C, but I’m quite sure no Malaysians will be travelling down to Singapore to get their hands on a non-contract set for now, at least not with the current exchange rate.

Pricings are based on $2.58 conversion rate.

Apple Announces iOS 7, iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S

Tim Cook at the Apple Event

So early this morning, Apple finally unveils the iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S together with the announcement of iOS 7 availability in an Apple event held at its headquarters in Cupertino, California. The announcement came as no surprise to many Apple fanboys (just like me) who have been following closely on the development news.

Now I’m not gonna go thoroughly through all nitty-gritty specs, but I’m definitely gonna go through some of the interesting bits that excites me the most. Yeah yeah, there is only this much of things you can expect from this event since we’ve got most of the juicy bits from the leaked photos earlier, but I must admit that Apple is still pretty much leading the innovative race with a few tricks left up their sleeves.

Apple iOS 7

ios7_01

Now the iOS 7 is not exactly breaking news, we’ve heard pretty much about it in June this year.  With its new colour palette and a ‘brand new’ flat design, the iOS 7 is much prettier than its previous releases. Perhaps the most exciting feature of the iOS 7 is the Command Centre, a one-stop area where you can control most of your iDevice’s functions. Some Droidboys may not fancy it that much but many others loves it to bits. Other new features are Notification Center and multitasking view and some new ringtones for the operating system and new system alert sounds.

Another thing that many Apple fans (in US for now) are looking forward too is the iTunes Radio which will also launch with iOS 7 on Sept. 18.

iPhone 5C

iphone-5c-colours

So it’s true that Apple is releasing a budget iPhone 5C but the ‘C’ doesn’t represent cheap. In fact, I feel that Apple is trying to bring back the classiness and fun in technology just like what Steve Jobs did with the colourful iMacs back in late 1990s.

The 5C has many of the same capabilities as the iPhone 5 (including the A6 chip) but the back is replaced with a polycarbonate body, not plastic, but in a single piece of colourful polycarbonate. With the introduction of iPhone 5C, the iPhone 5 will be discontinued.

The iPhone will come in vibrant green, blue, pink, yellow and white, and will be priced at $100 less than the current iPhone 5, starting at $99 for the 16GB version and $199 for the 32GB version. And if you’re looking at the unlocked and non-contractual version, it starts at $549 for the 16GB and $649 for the 32GB version. Yep, you guessed it right – the budget iPhone 5C isn’t that cheap at all!

Apple also introduces a lineup of colourful perforated cases for the 5S so you can mix and match with it. The cases are going for $29 and it comes in Pink, Yellow, Blue, Green, White and Black.

The iPhone 5C is available for pre-order from September 13 onwards.

iPhone 5S

iphone-5s-colors_ws

The epitome of the event would definitely be the iPhone 5S. As waves of leaked photos swept the internet, it still gives many fanboys goosebumps to see the unveiling of iPhone 5S. Right about this moment, I’m sure some Droidboys reading this would be saying, “like dafuq? It’s exactly the same as iPhone 5, you moron!” Well, I have news for you Droidboys out there, if you don’t like it, don’t buy it! Scramp! I’m not particular excited with the design because I’m already expecting it to be the same. But you cannot deny the fact that the 5S still packs a little surprised that even the Android giants are dying to find out.

First of all, the 5S runs on the latest A7 chip, and it is 64 bit! The world’s first 64 bit mobile phone to date! Well, if you don’t know much about A7 or 64 bit thingy, just know that it’s supposed to make your mobile phone more complicated stuff and enhanced its capability to do more great stuff, okay? Again, it may not be all that great of an impact to the PC industry, but 64 bit on a smartphone is gonna shake a few things up for sure… especially the Samsung boys.

Now there’s also another good reason why Apple is going 64 bit. As Apple is also introducing the TouchID security system for the 5S and upgraded its camera app, Apple needs 64-bit for fingerprint authentication as well as the camera features the company has added to the latest iPhone. In other words, 64-bit is an enabler to features that may matter to the masses.

So with TouchID, there’s no more unlocking your iPhone 5S with a swipe lock. Just place any of your fingers on the home button and your phone will unlock itself. Sure, the TouchID raises a few issues on security and privacy but it’ll soon be sorted out.

The 5S also boasts an improved camera with a f/2.2 aperture for taking better photos in low light as well as a dual-LED flash for creating the perfect natural color balance in shots. A panorama mode can take a 28-megapixel shot, and a new burst mode snaps 10 still pictures in one second.

The iPhone 5S will be available in silver, gold and space gray (not gunmetal). There no changes from the previous pricing -16GB at $199. 32GB at $299 and 64GB at $399. Yes, that’s on-contract and as for the unlocked and non-contract version – 16GB at $649. 32GB at $749 and 64GB at $849.

The iPhone 5S will roll out from September 20 onwards to US, Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore and UK. And also will be available for 100 countries and 270 carriers in December, before the end of the year.

Do you like the new iPhone 5C and 5S and plan to make a purchase? Let me know your thoughts in the comments, would love to hear from you… and the haters too.

More Leaked Photos of Alleged iPhone 5C Ready To Roll Out

More new photos from iapps.com allegedly showing the colourful iPhone 5Cs in the clear plastic box case ready to be rolled out, along with a video purported showing the fully-assembled and running iPhone 5C browsing the internet.

blue_iphone_5c

Although it looks pretty promising but the low-res video makes it hard for us to tell whether it’s a genuine iPhone 5C device or just another lookalike device running iOS 7. At this rate, expect to see a few more spy photos before the actually announcement date on September 10.

More Leaked Photos That Lead to iPhone 5C

iPhone-5C-Manual-1

It’s been pretty amazing how many leaked photos have been circulating around the Internet and here are the latest spy photos to grab the limelight of what appears to be the product’s manual of iPhone 5C.

iPhone-5C-Manual-2

It is definitely without a doubt that the new budget iPhone will be named iPhone 5C thanks to the clearly visible moniker atop the thin paper manual that will ship with each of Apple’s newest addition. It would be fairly confident in saying that the iPhone 5C will be hitting retail shelves in an Apple Store near you soon enough.

Apple will be unveiling their new lineups on September 10 and you can follow the updates via our Facebook Page and Twitter account.

Leaked Press Photo of iPhone 5C

Leaked press photo of iPhone 5C

As the date draws nearer to Sept 10, iPhone fans are getting pretty hyped up for the announcement of the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. With the latest leaked photo of the alleged iPhone 5C, I’m pretty confident to say that the budget iPhone is for real and iPhone fans can expect to see them sometime next month.

The leaked press photo of iPhone 5C is reported on numerous sites show the white plastic device with Apple’s iOS 7 running up front. The colourful iPhone 5C back housings are said to be made of scratch resistant material as in the video below suggest.

Although we’re pretty much sure that the iPhone 5C is for real, I’m still rather excited and can’t wait for the announcement on September 10. If the price is right, I foresee soaring sales for this budget device.

More Colours for Budget iPhone

[portfolio_slideshow]

Sonny Dickson continues to feed us with more goodies, reaffirming our speculation of the much rumoured budget iPhone – this time round, a whole bunch of images that would suggest that the budget iPhone would come in variety of colours.

Now I have no ideas where is Sonny getting all these photos but what’s been really consistent about him, is he gets a whole lot of the images. Sonny’s questionable back case of the budget iPhone comes in lime green and may suggest that more colours could be available for the budget iPhone. It seems like Apple could be making its way back to building cool functional gadgets in a fun and colourful way.

Leaked Photo of iPhone 5C Plastic Box Casings Suggests Name of Budget iPhone

iPhone 5c Packaging

Binful of iPhone 5C plastic packaging captured in China could possibly be the name of Apple’s upcoming budget iPhone. The packaging clearly shows ‘iPhone 5C’ on its sides and it is pretty similar to the packaging of the 5G iPod touch.

However, there’s no confirmation if the photo is for real or just a rip off from China. Even if it’s being Photoshop-ed, that’s awfully a lot of effort to fool the consumer. And if it’s for real, the assumption would be that the C will stand for ‘Colour’ or ‘plastiC’ or ‘polyCarbonate’ or ‘Consumer’ and even ‘Cheap’. iPhone 5C could even be for the 5 colour options available for the budget iPhone.

Ironically, The Onion came up with this parody earlier this year. (below)
