ISA – Another “Malaysia Boleh” product

I’ve been doing some following up on the stories of 2 more people being detained by ISA after RPK was being picked up earlier.

I’m trying to make up what’s going on and what prompted ISA to detained these individuals.

RAJA PETRA KAMARUDIN
“Malaysia-Today” Blogger

Status:
Detained under ISA

Reason:
For various statements published by Raja Petra in his blog “Malaysia Today”, the latest being a commentary which allegedly ridiculed Islam and Prophet Muhammad.

TERESA KOK
DAP MP for Seputeh

Status:
Detained under ISA

Reason:
DAP stalwart was detained for allegedly telling mosque officials in Kota Damansara, Sri Serdang and Puchong Jaya to tone down the call to prayer. She had denied the allegations.

TAN HOON CHENG
Sin Chew Daily reporter

Status:
Detained under ISA

Reason:
Tan was arrested over her report on alleged racist remarks by Datuk Ahmad Ismail.

DATUK AHMAD ISMAIL
UMNO Bukit Bendera division chief

Status:
Having a long holiday – 3 years. Probably meeting up the rest of the MPs in Taiwan.

Reason:
For his remark of ethnic Chinese as “squatters” and “immigrants” who sought to “become like the Jewish in America” by trying to dominate politics and the economy. [source]

So can somebody tell me what’s wrong here?

Ahmad Ismail suspended. RPK jailed.

Seriously, what is Internal Security Act (ISA) all about? I don’t see it serves any purpose at all. Well, at least not to me. Or perhaps it’s just another government body for certain individual or party to manipulate code of ethics?

Bukit Bendera MP, Datuk Ahmad Ismail made a racist remark against the Malaysian Chinese and it was a big issue. BN had an emergency meeting. Umno had a Supreme Council meeting. Umno suspended Datuk Ahmad Ismail from the party for three years and stripped him of all his posts and membership rights. PM made the announcement and the punishment takes effect immediately!

Yeah…Big deal!

RPK wants to expose the truth. He made political remarks and accusations of the government. The government took him in and he was in jail for awhile. He was then released. Weeks later, the governmen decided to block his blog MALAYSIA-TODAY.NET from Malaysian readers. RPK decided to branch out and mirror-ed his blog to other servers where Malaysian readers can access. Today, he was arrested by ISA.

Months ago, a few indian lawyers gathered in front of the British High Comm. They wanted to present a letter to them. They too got arrested by the ISA. If I’m not mistaken, they are still in jail now.

Datuk Ahmad Ismail getting only a 3 years suspension, it’s like a holiday for him while others have to suffer behind bar.

So, is this justice?
