Excuse me sir, your VISA has been rejected.
Finally, the much talked about visa blog is pulling its plug. Here’s a quote from visa blog:

Ok, as some of you might have already expected, I have signed the letter of undertaking to let go the domain. Yes, visa blog has come to an end. Period.
Sorry guys, although it’s not easy to give up, but the decision has to be this. It’s an uphill battle that is almost impossible to win. I thought of fighting for it initially. But after some thorough considerations, I decided to let go (or chickening out, if you really must say so). Excuse me for not explaining why is the decision so, but it’s roughly like “if i win, i get back the domain and fame. But if i lose, it will be miserable”. Get the idea?
The legal advisors (yes, I’ve seen more than one of them) have also advised me that the best I could do is to ask for some compensations and give up the domain. So i did. I politely asked for compensation (of course I had to be careful for not falling into a ‘cybersquatting’ trap, if there’s any), but all I asked for is a domain replacement so I can keep blogging and I don’t think that’s too much to ask for. It can also make me feel better for being respected. However, the answer I got was a rude NO. Come on Visa, how much is a domain going to cost you? By the way, I renewed this domain two months ago. In other words, Visa gets to use this domain name for free for the year to come with my hard-earned money. Oh joy.
Anyway, thanks for all the supports you guys have given. It has been fun blogging here. Although it’s not easy to give away your baby just like that, nor I have tried my maximum effort in keeping the domain, I believe I’ve made the best decision by taking all the considerations into account.
And will blewtooth be gone? Probably .. but I wouldn’t want to get myself in trouble again by registering things like blewtooth.com.my and have Bluetooth consortium going after me! Smiling
Take care, my friends!

Blewtooth also posted an entry to reply a particular blogger who gave negative feedback and comments about his intension for visa blog. Here’s a quote from his posting just incase the link no longer available :
Cybersquatting for cash?
Submitted by blewtooth on Thu, 2005-06-30 09:04. Domain name dispute
I know it’s difficult to believe that the idea of registering a domain like visa.com.my is not for cybersquatting, or asking for ransom from *someone else*. Who would resist the temptation of being millionaire next day?
But for those of you who think so, including a blogger who makes public criticism against me in his blog, I want to share with you something. The picture below tells the traffic of visa.com.my to date.
One might try to guess a blog’s popularity by judging on the comments the blogger usually have. My readers have been silent readers. They come, they see whether there is something interesting today, and they leave. Sometimes they leave a message or two. Some have offered to co-author the blog.
I guess every bloggers check their site statistics. I do it on a regular basis. It really feels rewarding when you see the upward trend in the graph, and I guess that keeps bloggers moving. That makes bloggers go high and low looking for contents to please their readers, and they know it’s worth in doing so.
What’s the point of putting my effort, which sometimes mean blogging on a daily basis, if the ground of all these is to sell the domain off one day, which you know would be used in a way that is entirely different from what you are doing now?
I don’t think it’s wise to defend myself here. But sadly speaking, it seems that giving up the domain is the only choice I have now, as advised by some legal advisors. This post is to try to keep a good name of blewtooth before everything ends next week.
A big thank you to those who believe my words.
Last but not least, to that blogger I mentioned just now, nice photoshop work! Must have spent you some time, and I am sure you’ll find it worthwhile.
It’s very obvious that the particular blogger who made ‘public criticism’ of visa blog is no other than…me(read my posting). Unless, I’m being perasan :P
Ok, let me assure you that I’m not against anyone! I’m not siding any party either. I’m just stating whatever is on my mind. I’m just being honest and for goodness sake, this is the Internet. Everything on the Internet is for the public. When you pinged PPS and asked for advise and comments, you’ll get it! Good and bad.
Sorry if I’m unlike others who sympathized your lost of rights to your current visa blog domain. But as much as I hate to admit this, I do. I do share the lost of a good domain and the effort that blewtooth have put on visa blog. I too am furious and sadden by the fact VISA International is indeed a cheapo. Now happy?
Truth is, registering visa.com.my at the first place is a BIG mistake! Yes it is a common word and yes the domain name was open for registeration. And what’s more tempting, free traffic coming from surfers who are looking for VISA Malaysia. Anyone, including myself would want to register such a popular domain name.
Let’s put it this way…If I were to register this domain. It doesn’t matter if I’ve no use for the domain, as long as I keep the domain, I’m sure one day VISA would want it back. I can probably do something else with that domain, perhaps a blog? If one day VISA wants to buy it back, it’s a proposition. If they don’t want to pay for it, I’ll ask for compensation. Whichever way, I still get paid! Get the picture?
Ask the BIG question why a blog on VISA.COM.MY domain? Why not techblog.com.my? Perhaps something more personal…like a name such as www.keewooi.com. Or maybe a generic word like www.start.com.my? Wouldn’t that be easier? Unless your name is Ng Vi Sa or Visa Lee or Visalingam. Then you might stand a chance to fight in court.
To VISA’s legal advisors, it doesn’t matter when you register it, or how they dropped the domain, this is still called ‘cybersquatting‘.
I don’t wish to be the bad guy here, but there’s nothing much blewtooth can do about this now. My apology to blewtooth for my so called ‘public criticism’ which sincerely I have no intention or thoughts of defamation. Honest!
But I do somehow agree that VISA is indeed a cheapskate, they should atleast pay back blewtooth for the renewals of the domain. I guess blewtooth really have to GIVE away his domain since he has got NO INTENTION to sell it :(
