Castrol Launches CARAMA In Malaysia – Malaysia’s FIRST Online Service for Trusted Car Care

Just like I’ve mentioned in my earlier in blog post, Castrol has finally announced the launch of ‘Carama’ – a web and mobile enabled portal which simplifies car care, maintenance and workshop guide for consumers in an easy-to-use and one-stop solution. Ultimately, Carama helps to rebuild the relationship and trust between car owners and workshops. It’s truly exciting to know that Castrol, one of the world’s leading premium lubricant specialists has extended its service beyond its lubricant business to the car care industry.

Carama Certified Shops have to go through a 40 point rigorous screening by Castrol’s panel of independent third party experts, ensuring that these shops meet the highest standards of quality, skills, transparency, customer service, health and safety compliance.

As for Carama portal, it provides core features like accredited repair shop locator, spare parts calculator, my car logbook and Carama rewards. My Car is a feature that provides car owners with service reminders and Carama Reward is a money-saving, cash-back redemption model that rewards car owners for their usage, engagement, reviews and sharing of Carama.

Car owners will also be able to share consumer reviews based on actual experiences of Carama Certified and Listed Shops. As Malaysia’s first social graph car care portal, Carama connects car owners to share their experiences and car maintenance tips with friends, family and the general public.

If you’re in doubt of which workshop to go in the future, I would suggest you give Carama a try. Sign up at Carama portal now for free and enjoy a revolutionary experience in car care and maintenance.

Creating Your Life – A Cartoonist’s Advice by Bill Watterson

Bill Watterson is my favourite cartoonist of all time and Calvin and Hobbes is perhaps one of the best comic strip ever. I’ve been a big fan of Bill Watterson since the 90s, and I’ve never grew tired of reading Calvin and Hobbes over and over again.

I believe there’s a Calvin in all of us, and that’s what Bill has been trying to show us all this while. And here’s a great comic strip by Gavin Aung Than inspired by Watterson’s graduation speech at his alma mater, Kenyon College in 1990. An inspiring story that tell us to follow our dreams. Something that many of us can relate. I know I can since I’m now a stay-at-home-dad with a dog. Although it has been tough, being able to spend more time with my little girl has indeed been joyful. I’m glad I took the trouble.

Kudos to Gavin Aung Than for such a great re-creation of Bill’s work.

Animated GIF for Facebook

Did you know that Facebook once supported animated GIF? Well, of course you don’t. So here’s the story.

During the early days, animated GIFs are supported on Facebook. But Mark and his team decided that they don’t want to look like MySpace with all the blinking images, they decided to ditch the support. But the animated GIF is making its way back to Facebook on Thursday, thanks to GIF search engine Giphy.

Giphy worked with Facebook to allow users to share and embed GIFs from, at least until Facebook supports the animated GIF natively on its platform.

World’s Smallest and Functional Macintosh Computer

Tiny Macintosh

Came across an article today about a geek who built the world smallest and yet functional Apple Macintosh computer. Being an avid fan of Apple and a Macintosh user long time ago, I’m rather excited and intrigued to find out about this little creation. The classic Macintosh computer was manufactured by Apple Inc. and was introduced on October 15, 1990. It was the first Apple Macintosh to sell for less than US$1,000. Production of the Classic was prompted by the success of the Macintosh Plus and the Macintosh SE.

Built by master crafter John Badger, it is indeed a working Mac and it’s a third the size you might be expecting.  This build was done using a mixture of off-the-shelf parts and hand-moulded PVC – and a Pi. Pi or Raspberry Pi is a credit-card-sized single-board computer developed in the UK by the Raspberry Pi Foundation with the intention of promoting the teaching of basic computer science in schools.

More iPhone 5S Rumours – 64-Bit A7 Chip and Gunmetal Colour

Gunmetal SIM card tray inserted in the white Apple iPhone 5Saaa

Just as we thought we have seen it all, there are still a few more surprises creeping up just weeks before the big announcement day. New sources are coming in suggesting a more powerful iPhone 5S running on A7 64-bit chip and it will be 31% much faster.

Just two days ago, Clayton Morris from Fox News, posted on Twitter that he had been told that the new processor was super quick. “Sources are telling me the new iPhone’s A7 chip is running at about 31 per cent faster than A6. I’m hearing it’s very fast,” he wrote.

However it is still unclear if the A7 chip will make the cut, but it’s been in testing by Apple. We were told that the 64-bit processing will assist the A7 chip in making animations, transparencies, and other iOS 7 graphical effects appear much more smoothly than on existing iOS Devices.

Gunmetal colored SIM tray for the Apple iPhone 5S

On a separate report, a new picture from Japan that was published on Sunday indicates that gunmetal could be another new colour for the full-spec iPhone 5S. A picture of a leaked SIM card tray in that color suggests that such a color option will be made available. So far, it would appear that the new iPhone 5S is coming in Black, White, Gold (or Champagne) and Gunmetal. However, I’m still rather skeptical about the latest colour as it could be yet another cheap rip off from China. I will for now, keep an open mind until Apple makes the official announcement on September 10.

Movie Review: Kick-Ass 2

Kick-Ass 2 - Poster

If you’ve watched the previous Kick-Ass movie, then you’ve got to watch Kick-Ass 2 simply because the show truly kickass! And I don’t care what people at Rotten Tomatoes have to say because I totally enjoyed the movie and I’m sure many others would too. Kick-Ass 2 is scheduled to be playing in cinemas on August 29 but thanks to Nuffnang, I get to catch the premier viewing 3 days before.

Act like a bitch, get slapped like a bitch.

Kick-Ass heroic antics have inspired more masked vigilantes to come out from within the city to protect the innocent and the weak – prompting the formation of heroes’ league called Justive Forever. However, Kick-Ass heroic act also angered Chris D’Amico (Red Mist) to seek revenge for the death of his father. After taking over his family’s wealth, Red Mist took over a new villain mask and called himself The MotherF**ker. Being super rich and having no superhero skills, The MotherF**ker hired thugs and street fighters and put them into his own league of super villains. Their objective is to kill Kick-Ass.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Kick-Ass

The nerdy looking Dave Lizewski or Kick-Ass is played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Now don’t be fooled by the square-specs and frizzy hair, Aaron Taylor-Johnson is all ripped in Kick-Ass 2, so ladies…  try not to drool.

Chloë Grace Moretz as Hit Girl

The sweet and ass-kicking Mindy Mcready or Hit Girl is played by Chloë Grace Moretz and she’s all grown up now. Then you have Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes and Donald Faison from Scrub acting as Dr. Gravity.  Red Mist or The MotherF**ker is played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse.

You can get the full cast here.

Kick-Ass 2: The MotherFucker with his super villains.

Now the movie has been rated 18+ in cinemas so you better expect some gruesome scenes – nothing morbid but plenty of blood spewing all over. Although rather violent, it’s truly an action-packed movie with mixed humour especially with the name of the superheroes. The ‘Sick Stick’ is rather funny too. Ok, I’m not going to spoil the whole movie for you but I would highly recommend you to watch Kick-Ass 2 if you enjoyed the previous Kick-Ass movie.

I would rate this movie as 3.8/5.0.

Leaked Press Photo of iPhone 5C

Leaked press photo of iPhone 5C

As the date draws nearer to Sept 10, iPhone fans are getting pretty hyped up for the announcement of the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. With the latest leaked photo of the alleged iPhone 5C, I’m pretty confident to say that the budget iPhone is for real and iPhone fans can expect to see them sometime next month.

The leaked press photo of iPhone 5C is reported on numerous sites show the white plastic device with Apple’s iOS 7 running up front. The colourful iPhone 5C back housings are said to be made of scratch resistant material as in the video below suggest.

Although we’re pretty much sure that the iPhone 5C is for real, I’m still rather excited and can’t wait for the announcement on September 10. If the price is right, I foresee soaring sales for this budget device.

Lim Fried Chicken @ Restoran Wong Soon Kee, Subang Jaya SS14

Satisfying Lim Fried ChickenLim Fried Chicken

Subang Jaya SS14 is pretty well known for plenty of good food and ultimately famous for Bah Kut Teh in Subang area. There are at least four Bah Kut Teh restaurants just along the same street. Now I’m not going to talk much about Bah Kut Teh but instead, I’m going to ‘talk cock’ and introduce you readers to the best fried chicken in Subang Jaya.

Located at the corner lot of along Jalan SS14/1, Lim Fried Chicken (LFC) serves the best fried chicken in the whole Subang Jaya area, some would say in Petaling Jaya as well. LFC is a stall within Restoran Wong Soon Kee and they are only in business during lunch time. Go during lunch time and expect a long queue and hope for empty seats around. However long the queue is, customers will patiently queue up just to taste that juicy in the inside and crispy on the outside fried chicken.

03Customers queuing up to order.

The fried chicken is served with side dishes (usually veges or fish or cuttlefish) or your choice, curry and their home-cooked yummilicious sambal. If you’re not sure what to order, they’ll serve you rice with fried chicken, a side vegetable dish with sambal. Even that is enough to whet your appetite and to give you a satisfying meal.

The chicken thighs and breasts are prepared fresh every day they fry it right at the restaurant – so that the fried chicken is always hot and fresh from the deep-fry wok. The generously large piece of chicken is the reason why many customers love the fried chicken there.

06That’s a whole lot of chicken thighs
05Deep fried to pecfection

If you wish to try something different, there’s always Chee Cheong Fun to replace your rice and a variety of side dishes that are all pretty good. There are mutton, fried Kembung fish, sambal sotong, eggs and two types of vegetables – stir-fry cabbage and long beans.

Excellent choices of side dishes. Stir-fry cabbage, long beans, sambal sotong and more. Chee Cheong FunSelection of side dishes

LFC is self-service so you queue up, order your food, pay and walk away with a plateful of goodness. My usual order is rice with fried chicken, long beans, egg and flooded with awesome curry and a generous scoop of sambal. My usual order cost me RM9.00 and it’s RM5.50 for that one piece of fried chicken. Pricey, yes but it’s worth to pay that much because it’s truly a satisfying meal.

08Order, pay and enjoy your meal

09That’s my lunch!

So if you’re somewhere in Subang Jaya and can’t decide what to have for lunch, why not give Lim Fried Chicken a try. I’m quite sure you’ll love it.
