Animated GIF for Facebook

Did you know that Facebook once supported animated GIF? Well, of course you don’t. So here’s the story.
During the early days, animated GIFs are supported on Facebook. But Mark and his team decided that they don’t want to look like MySpace with all the blinking images, they decided to ditch the support. But the animated GIF is making its way back to Facebook on Thursday, thanks to GIF search engine Giphy.

Giphy worked with Facebook to allow users to share and embed GIFs from giphy.com, at least until Facebook supports the animated GIF natively on its platform.
