Egotism vs Rudeness

“Haiya, lelaki semua nih ego-lah! Ingatkan mereka semua terror sangat.”

Men has been generalised to be the egoistic species when it comes to gender war. Honestly, I agree to it. However, I do not agree that all men are the same.

Speaking on my behalf, I admit I can be quite egoistic at times but that does not mean that I ought to go around trashing the lives of others.

I don’t. That’s because I’m not a rude person.

Rudeness, like big government, is intrusive. And like big government, it is cancerous. Just as the shortcomings of one welfare state program beget another and yet another, so too do thoughtless behavior and rude remarks metastasize.

According to Wikipedia, Rudeness is the (apparent) disrespect and failure to behave within the context of a society or a group of people’s social laws or etiquette. These laws have already unspokenly been established as the essential boundaries of normally accepted behavior. To be unable or unwilling to align one’s behavior with these laws known to the general population of what is socially acceptable would be considered being rude. There is an order of severity as to what one might consider being rude; Impolite, Faux pas, Inconsiderate/Indifference/Selfishness, Offensive, Obscene and Taboo/a crime.

No matter how egoistic a man can be, or rather, no matter how egoistic I can be, I have no intention to be rude.

I’ve met many egoistic men in my life. Surely, they spoke a lot about themselves, I would just avoid them.

On the other hand, I’ve also seen too many impolite women out there too. Sadly, these people tend to leave appalling remarks that can hurt and haunt you for the rest of your life, especially those from close friend s and loved ones.

“Rudeness is the weak man’s imitation of strength, and luxuriates in the absence of self-respect.” - Eric Hoffler

“I Am Iron Man”

As convincing as the title may sound, no, I’m not Iron Man but this movie definitely gets my two ‘iron thumbs’ up!. Yet another great movie from Marvel comics after many great success with their comic range superheroes.

Iron Man

Love this movie a lot and for some reasons, I felt that this movie is far better than Transformers. The shinny armor and sophisticated mechanism of the suit totally blows me off my mind! It’s awesome how far CG has improved over the years. Transformers was cool and definitely a great movie but somehow it lacks a good storyline. Instead, Iron Man tells a great story on the emergence of a great superhero.

Robert Downey Jr. played a great role as Tony Stark, the billionaire genuis who created the armor suit that saved him and then made him a superhero.

Iron Man

After missing in action for quite a while, Gwen definitely put on a great role as Pepper Potts, Tony’s PA who too saved his life.

Now, I’ll leave the review to the rest. What I can say is, this movie is a must watch. At least try to catch it on the big screen.

Iron Man
Seriously, don’t you just love this?

Neighbourhood Spiderman

I was rather disturbed with the story from Amy yesterday. She was in the room when her roommate told her that there’s someone outside the window, close to midnight!

Just this morning, my mom told me that a burglar tried to break in into my neighbour’s house through the roof. Luckily enough, the husband came back late and was in the shower when he heard noises coming from the ceiling. I guess he scared off the burglar when he shouted out loud the moment he realised someone was trying to break in into his house.

So exactly how safe are we nowadays? So what if we have grilled doors and windows, solid steel padlocks and high-tech alarm systems installed. Will it give us a peace of mind knowing that no one can ever break in, THROUGH THE ROOFTOP!? Thanks to these ‘Neighbourhood Spiderman’ as I’d like to call them.

My friend once told me that a burglar actually tried to grab her hand bag through her room window. So, is it safe to leave our valuables in the privacy of our own room?! Hmm… after hearing more of such stories, I guess not anymore.

Truth is, we’ll never be safe again. Unlike our younger days, when we can still go out to our neighbourhood playground with our friends, not having to worry about getting kidnapped. The ladies can jog anytime of the day without having to worry about being abducted, raped and murdered. Hang around outside your house, not having to worry about getting robbed right in front of your very own house! Those days are long gone.

Sad isn’t it?

Love Thy Dog

While we curse and swear at others in today’s dog-eat-dog world, animals became more human than us. I recently learned that loyalty and faithfulness no longer exist in some human beings today, particularly some we called ‘friends’.

Here’s an article extracted from Thestar.com.my:

Dog saves woman from watery death

SEREMBAN: A dog seeing that its elderly owner was in danger of drowning, when flash floods struck Kampung Ulu Temiang yesterday, did the only thing it could do. It didn’t stop barking until help came along.

The woman, who suffers from chronic asthma, was on the verge of drowning in her wooden house, as flood waters kept rising steadily, but her loyal pet refused to leave her side.

However, most of her neighbours had left their half-submerged houses to seek shelter from the floods, resulting from a two-hour downpour which began at 2.30pm, and did not hear the canine’s frantic call for help.

The dog’s desperate barking eventually alerted a team of fire and rescue personnel, who aided by some neighbours, went to the house and found the woman, in her 60s, shivering and helpless, barely able to keep her head above the rising water level.

Bernama learnt that it was only when the firemen rescued the woman that her faithful dog left her side and swam to safety, proving that dogs are indeed man’s, or in this case, a woman’s best friend.

Even animals show more loyalty and faithfulness than some human beings. Are we worse than animals?

Please love and care for your dogs, for they can be more loyal than any of your so-called friends.

Me and my Boss

When I Take a long time to finish, I am slow,
When my boss takes a long time, she is thorough

When I don’t do it, I am lazy,
When my boss does not do it, she is busy,

When I do something without being told, I am trying to be smart,
When my boss does the same, she takes the initiative,

When I please my boss, I am apple polishing,
When my boss pleases his boss, she is cooperating,

When I make a mistake, I’ am an idiot.
When my boss makes a mistake, she’s only human.

When I am out of the office, I am wondering around.
When my boss is out of the office, she’s on business.

When I am on a day off sick, I am always sick.
When my boss is a day off sick, she must be very ill.

When I apply for leave, I must be going for an interview
When my boss applies for leave, it’s because she’s overworked

When I do good, my boss never remembers,
When I do wrong, she never forgets.
